Memorial Day 2010

Ever since I can remember Memorial Day, it was spent with my Mom and Dad - bringing flowers to the cemeteries, attending local parades, and having a picnic. Now that Dad is gone, Mom and I still do those things with my husband, nieces and sister.

I loved growing up in Archbald, PA, and my parents were responsible for us learning to love our home town.  That is why, while others may not come out of their houses to view a parade, we are there -- camera in hand -- cheering on those in the parade.

This year, we started in Eynon for that Main Street Parade, then attended the Archbald Main Street Parade.  We finished with the Memorial Day Ceremonies that were held at the new park in Archbald.

Below you will find the photos from the Eynon Parade.  The Archbald photos will be uploaded in a few days.  Hope you enjoy!

Archbald Borough Homecoming Days

When I read Pat’s letter for Archbald Borough’s Homecoming Days, it brought memories of our old school newsletters. We couldn’t wait to read who was roasted in the articles. Pat’s letter didn’t disappoint. It was just as funny.
I hope you’ll join me and others at the Reunion of a Lifetime.
On Saturday, September 19, 2009, there will be an ALL-Class Reunion for Archbald High, Bishop O’Hara, Saint Pat’s of Olyphant, Prep, St. Rose, and Valley View. It is a multi-school and a multi-year reunion.
Admission is free. Tents will be set up for the different schools and the letter states that mingling is allowed.
For more information visit their website.
Pat is trying to contact as many people as possible about this event. He is only one man, and if you knew him in grade or high school, you know he needs all the help he can get – grin. Please let everyone you know about this event. Blog about it, Tweet about it, Text about it, call your family and friends.
Sign their guestbook to let them know you will be attending. I hope to see you there!

Homecoming Days will be held September 17, 18, 19, and 20, 2009 at AC Field in Archbald, PA.

The Archbald Pothole
As a young boy, my dad would climb down into the pothole with his friends and play cards. Here, Dave and Dave (last names unknown) traveled to Arcbhald to explore the Archbald Pothole. This is their video:

St. Thomas

August 5, 2009 - The ceiling of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald, PA, collapsed. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Thank goodness it didn't happen during mass - The painting in the rear of the church is damaged. We can only hope the damage doesn't spread.
